Prvi dio romana čine četiri priče u kojima se opisuju zadnji trenutci života petero ljudi, a događa se u različitim razdobljima (u rasponu negdje od sedamnaestog stoljeća do otprilike šezdesetih godina dvadesetog). Jedan od likova zapravo nije čovjek nego anđeo koji je preuzeo ljudski oblik zajedno sa svim osobinama čovjeka, a učinio je to kako bi drugom liku pomogao nadvladati alkoholičarsku ovisnost koja ga opsjeda već nekoliko života, a koja je nastala kao izravna posljedica tragedije koju je doživio. Anđeo ne zna da nije obično ljudsko biće, a razlog za to je sljedeći: kako bi mogao pomoći dotičnoj osobi, on je mora bezrezervno voljeti, dakle, i trpjeti zajedno s njome, a to može jedino ako se ne sjeća svoje prave prirode. Radnja drugog dijela romana događa se u naše vrijeme, nekoliko godina nakon Domovinskog rata, a opisuje život jedne zagrebačke obitelji. Nju čine likovi iz prethodne četiri priče, uključujući i anđela. Ovdje njegovi napori konačno donose rezultat, iako će on biti pomalo drugačiji od očekivanog. Dakle radi se o fabulativno zanimljivom, ali i poučnom djelu. Književno-kritički gledano, roman Anđelova ljubav je napisan velikim literarnim umijećem.
