Znatiželja arhitekta Zvonka Pađana zaslužuje pozornost i odziv, a njegove knjige što slijede jedna za drugom sustavno razmatraju problematiku graditeljskih ishodišta i čovjekove potrebe i moći da nađe svoje mjesto u prostoru i ostavi trag zemnoga prolaska. Iz samih naslova Pađanovih studija i interpretacija vidljivo je da on arhitekturu kao eminentno ljudsku djelatnost vidi u strogoj korelaciji s prirodnim procesima, dapače u uskoj povezanosti s biologijom i morfologijom cijeloga života na Zemlji. Arhitektonski stup, svoju najnoviju studiju, Zvonko Pađan posvećuje mjestu i ulozi stupa u povijesti arhitekture, opet od prapovijesti pa do najbliže nam suvremenosti. Neslučajnim mi se čini što je inače rado korišten pojam biofilozofije, kao atribut vlastita pristupa, u podnaslovu ove knjige zamijenio, odnosno indikativno dopunio, pojmom bioantropološkog shvaćanja, to jest istaknuo izrazito humanu participaciju. Postupno je, dakle, Zvonko Pađan u svojim istraživanjima došao i do stupa kao izraza čovjekova suprotstavljanja zemnoj gravitaciji, kao znaka samosvjesna uzdizanja i kao oblika promišljena dizajna krova nad glavom.
