About the Book

Ivo Prančić slovenski je slikar rođen u Ljubljani 1955. godine. Slikarstvo je diplomirao na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Ljubljani 1982. u klasi prof. Gustava Gnamuša, a kod istog profesora završio je i specijalku dvije godine kasnije. Živi i radi u Ljubljani. Samostalno počinje izlagati 1986., u vrijeme kada novoslikarski val s početka 80-ih godina doživljava vrhunac, a čitav niz slovenskih slikara izlaže na Biennalu mladih u Rijeci. Slijede brojne samostalne i skupne izložbe po Sloveniji (Ljubljana, Maribor, Piran, Koper), Hrvatskoj (Rijeka, Zagreb, Dubrovnik), Austriji (Graz, Beč, Villach), Francuskoj (Pariz, St. Etienne, Tours) i dr. Dobitnik je više nagrada i stipendija: 1993. francuska vlada stipendira mu studijski boravak u Parizu, a 1996. dobiva stipendiju Pollock-Krasner Foundation iz New Yorka. Prančičeve slike su himna slikarskoj materiji: boji i posebno - platnu, njegovoj strukturi i taktilnoj vrijednosti. Ljepljenjem platnenih traka na platno podloge umjetnik postiže stvarnu reljefnost površine, dodatno naglašenu slojevitim namazima boje različite gustoće i tonske vrijednosti. Slike svojom neobičnom «debljinom» i višedjelnim karakterom osvajaju izložbeni prostor, a gledatelje uvlače u složenu igru osjetilnog i doživljajnog.
