„O mirotvorstvu i ratovima napisana je golema biblioteka knjiga. No što mogu knjige kad ni dva svjetska rata nisu svojim bolnim iskustvima pridonijela iskorjenjivanju ratnih sukoba“, pita se u svome uvodnom tekstu Ljiljana Matković-Vlašić, zauzeta mirotvorka i jedna od onih koja je svojim djelovanjem od samog početka bila vezana uz Kršćansku sadašnjost, koja upravo u godini izlaska njezine knjige slavi svoju 50. obljetnicu. No, da se na putu mirotvorstva ipak nešto može učiniti te da to nije Sizifov posao, svjedoči upravo i ova knjiga. Autorica u njoj donosi zanimljiv i na sačuvanoj dokumentaciji utemeljen prikaz svojega mirotvornog rada od 1970. godine do danas. Bitno značenje za taj rad imalo je autoričino članstvo u Svjetskoj konferenciji religija za mir, međunarodnoj i međureligijskoj organizaciji osnovanoj 1970. godine u Kjotu (Japan). Osobitu vrijednost knjizi daju opisi susreta s važnim osobama u svijetu i kod nas, koje su svojim zalaganjem i borbom za mir obilježile drugu polovinu 20. stoljeća.
