Pat Manley gelingt es aber, mit seinem Buch in einfacher Sprache und mithilfe vieler Abbildungen und Tabellen dem interessierten Bootsbesitzer einen umfassenden Überblick über alle Arbeiten zu vermitteln, die an der Elektrik an Bord anfallen können. Nach einer allgemeinen Einführung in die Grundlagen der Elektrik, die einen guten Überblick darüber gibt, wie man seinen Strombedarf an Bord ermitteln kann oder wie lange Bordgeräte über die Batterie laufen können, stellt der Autor in den folgenden Kapiteln ausführlich die Werkzeuge und den Gebrauch von Geräten vor, die man benötigt, um Arbeiten an der Elektrik durchzuführen. Ein eigener Abschnitt geht auf die unterschiedlichen Navigationsinstrumente an Bord und deren fachgerechte Installation ein.
