U stara vremena, koja nisu bila tako davno, ja sam pisao na mašini. I recimo nakon dvadeset stranica olovkom bih napravio korekcije. Zatim bih nazvao Carol Atkins, daktilografkinju. Proćaskali bismo, a onda bih rekao: »Imam nešto stranica za otipkati. Tipkaš još uvijek?« Naravno da tipka. I znam da će sve uvijek biti tako uredno, kao da je kompjuter tipkao. A onda ja još kažem: »Nadam se da se neće izgubiti u pošti.« A ona kaže: »Nikad se ništa ne izgubi u pošti.« Što je i moje iskustvo. Nikad nisam ništa izgubio. I tako je sad ona Ned Ludd. Njeno tipkanje je postalo bezvrijedno. Uglavnom, ja bih uzeo te svoje stranice i s tom jednom željeznom stvarčicom, zove se spajalica, bih ih spojio. I pazio bih da ih numeriram.
