Knjiga donosi moderan hrvatski prijevod Ciceronova govora koji do danas nije prevođen u Hrvatskoj, a za koji je zaslužna dr. sc. Maja Matasović, ujedno i autorica uvodne studije. Govor je poseban među Ciceronovim govorima zbog opuštenijeg tona u kojem je izveden, kao i mnogobrojnih aluzija na kazališnu praksu u Rimu, a uključuje i sočne detalje iz tadašnjih društvenih odnosa među rimskom elitom. Knjiga sadrži uvodnu studiju o Marku Celiju Rufu i ostalim osobama koje se spominju u govoru, političkim i društvenim prilikama u Rimu 56. g. pr. Kr. kada je govor održan te o samoj izvedbi govora. Zatim slijede latinski tekst govora i paralelni hrvatski prijevod. Tekst je popraćen bilješkama o tekstovnoj predaji i realijama koje se spominju u tekstu, te genealogijom likova koji se spominju u tekstu.
