Knjiga »Hrvati u Vojvodini danas - traganje za identitetom« nastajala je dulji niz godina i rezultat je autorovih relativno kontinuiranih nastojanja na planu praćenja, bilježenja, kroničarenja i, gdjekad, svestranijeg tematiziranja aktualnog trenutka hrvatske zajednice u Vojvodini. Napominjemo odmah na početku: Hrvati su u Vojvodini od svih drugih Hrvata u svijetu vjerojatno u posljednjih 15 godina bili među najraritetnijim predmetom takva interesa! Naime, na rubu interesa hrvatske znanstvene i ine javnosti, o čemu svjedoči broj napisa o njima u Hrvatskoj, u srbijanskoj su javnosti pak (bili) izloženi ili strategiji brutalnoga nijekanja ili sustavnog prešućivanja, sa slabim i nerazvijenim autoreceptivnim i autoreprezentativnim resursima, suvremeni društveni položaj Hrvata u Vojvodini uveliko je i mnogokud (bivao) zatomljen te obavijen stanovitom nijemošću. U tom smislu, nastanak ove knjige motiviranje idejom da se stanje na tome planu bar u nečemu i unekako izmijeni i unaprijedi, i to prije svega svojom temeljnom nakanom da pokuša što obuhvatnije i cjelovitije zabilježiti i memorirati njihovo postojanje u skorijoj povijesti. Ova je ideja postupno realizirana - to potvrđuju i pojedini dijelovi ove knjige, koji su kao samostalne radnje ranije već bili objavljeni, mahom u periodici u Srbiji. - Iz predgovora
