Zbornik sastavljen iz priloga koji su 70-ih i 80-ih godina 20.-og stoljeća objavljeni u časopisu za svjetsku književnost "Književna smotra", u rubrici o doticajima hrvatske kulture sa stranim književnostima i civilizacijama. Prvi blok priloga, "Čitanje Krleže", odnosi se na europski kontekst Krležina djela, s posebnim naglaskom na njegov suodnos s Češkom kulturom i književnošću. Drugi blok, "Književne usporednice", donosi naznake za poredbenu analizu Waltera Scotta i Augusta Šenoe, kao i prilog o analogijama između engleskog i hrvatskog baroknog pjesništva. Treći blok, "Prožimanja", sastoji se od nekoliko priloga koji proučavaju doticaje i međuutjecaje hrvatske kulture sa stranima, dok zaključni blok, "Indijske teme", sadrži dnevničko-putopisni tekst Radolsava Katičića "Iz indijske putne bilježnice", te raspravu Ružice Čičak o Rabindranathu Tagoreu u zapisima Tina Ujevića.
