Roman „Modri zvjezdani vlak“ Krešimira Butkovića svojom tematikom vodi nas u svijet djece koja se nalaze na bolničkom liječenju. Autor romana, vješto koristeći metaforu i fantastiku, potiče djecu da ne odustanu, da se bore, da nadiđu sebe u patnji i boli, da budu tu za druge i da ne posustanu. Podučava ih kako se mogu suočiti sa strahom (i pobijediti Strašnobijesa). Dijalozi među likovima često su male terapijske intervencije koje su vješto uklopljene u tekst te donose bitne životne mudrosti i savjete. No, bez obzira na ove izravne pouke, roman nije upao u zamku didaktiziranja, već naprotiv, poruke su vješto i skladno uklopljene u radnju. Prolazeći fantastičnim svijetom, prateći avanture likova, dijete prolazi putevima koji su ispunjeni smislom. Dijete se tako ne otvara samo priči, nego i svijetu nade te može pronaći „alat“ za bogatiju i uspješniju budućnost. Posijano je ovim romanom u dječje misli sjeme nade i povjerenje, potaknuta je hrabrost, odlučnost i odgovornost, a problem s početka manje je strašan i moguće ga je savladati.
