Mrljek i Prljek najviše vole ljeto – najsmrdljivije, najznojastije i najljepljivije godišnje doba! Ljeti se prežderavaju svojim omiljenim sladoledom s okusom kiselog znoja s dječjih stopala, no ovoga ljeta tog sladoleda nije bilo! Djeca su stalno bila bosa i u moru, pa slastičarka Ešerihija nije imala ni kapi znoja da napravi sladoled. Zato su Mrljek i Prljek odlučili krenuti u avanturu i nabaviti znoj s dječjeg stopala u zamjenu za doživotnu zalihu besplatnog sladoleda. Uskočili su u tenisice dječaka Huga. Hugo svoje omiljene tenisice nije izuvao ni kad je spavao, a nije volio ni prati noge. Kiseli zadatak išao bi Mrljeku i Prljeku po planu da na tom znojnom moru nisu susreli neočekivanog gosta koji im je odlučio stati na put. Slikovnica „Mrljek i Prljek na kiselom zadatku – Priča o smrdljivim nogama“ dio je serije slikovnica o higijeni. Namijenjena je znatiželjnim mališanima koji će saznati što se može dogoditi ako redovito ne mijenjamo čarape, ne izuvamo cipele i ne peremo noge.
