Yu-jeong je mlada, lijepa i bogata i u totalnom rasulu. Slikarica je, predaje na fakultetu, a proslavila se i kao pjevačica, lijepim glasom izvodeći nacionalnu himnu. Sve je kod nje, reklo bi se, na svom mjestu, ali njezin treći pokušaj samoubojstva navješćuje da ispod ekstravagancije i blistave glazure života na visokoj nozi živi nešto podmuklo, traumatično i razarajuće. Na jednom drugom mjestu, iza čuvanih zatvorskih zidova, postoji sasvim različita, a opet slično slomljena osoba, Yun-su, muškarac koji čeka izvršenje smrtne kazne. A postoji i milosrdna teta Monica, posredstvom koje će njih dvoje svoje „sretne trenutke“ provoditi četvrtkom i suočavati nas sa svojim nesretnim sudbinama. Naše sretno vrijeme proslavljeni je roman Ji-young Gong, šokantan i uznemirujuć s jedne strane, ali i melankoličan i topao s druge. Preispitujući zločin i kaznu, život i smrt, krivnju i oprost autorica je, paradoksalno, uspjela ispisati poetičnu posvetu ljubavi i suosjećanju. Prošaran religijskim tonom roman ponire duboko u ljudsku dušu razapetu traumom, krivnjom i iskupljenjem, i odašilje snažnu kritiku društvu čije se promjene tragično prelamaju na pojedincu.
