Mlada detektivka Lara odlazi u Patagoniju nakon što joj jave da joj je djed, kojeg su ubili na isti način kao i dvadesetak godina ranije njezinog oca, ostavio nasljedstvo. Lara odlazi u Punta Arenas (u kojem više od polovice stanovništva čine doseljenici iz Hrvatske), ne samo radi nasljedstva nego i radi razjašnjavanja djedova ubojstva. Na tom putu pridružuje joj se stariji kolega, iskusni inspektor Vinko Sivec zvan Sivi, te se oni po dolasku u Punta Arenas suoče sa zločinima serijskog ubojice koji žrtve ubija nožem tako da ih prvo izbode, a potom im prereže grkljan. Šef policijske stanice u Punta Arenasu dopušta Lari i Sivecu da sudjeluju u potrazi za ubojicom jer nema dovoljno ljudstva, s obzirom na to da je taj grad na jugu Čilea dotad bio mirna, učmala sredina u kojoj se godinama nije dogodio niti jedan težak zločin. Rasplet uključuje nevjerojatne akcijske scene u kojima Lara i Sivec kreću avionom na Antarktiku u potragu za ubojicom, a identitet ubojice šokantno je otkriće...
