Zahvaljujući obilnoj i dugotrajnoj cvatnji, pelargonija je postala jedna od vodećih ljetnih cvjetnica bez koje se ne mogu zamisliti prozorske i balkonske cvjetne posude te viseće košare. Najljepše su kombinacije uspravnih i visećih oblika. Posebnu skupinu predstavljaju pelargonije aromatičnih listova koji dominiraju nad sitnim cvjetovima. Jedna je od rijetkih cvjetnica koja ne klone na vrelom mediteranskome suncu, i stoga zahvalna za sadnju uzduž Jadranske obale. Cvjetovi su jednostavni, poluispunjeni ili ispunjeni. Boje im variraju od nježnih pastelnih preko jarkih, blještećih do zagasito purpurne, a česti su i dvobojni, prošarani i cvjetovi s "okom" u sredini. Redovitim odstranjivanjem ocvalih cvatova postiže se dugotrajnija cvatnja. Pelargonija se lako uzgaja i razmnožava što ide u prilog njenoj omiljenosti i raširenosti.
