U ovoj knjizi čitatelj susreće iste likove i slijedi njihove nove doživljaje, koje je prema zamisli samoga autora napisao Ugo Scotti-Berni, njegov mladi, bliski prijatelj, koji je imao velikoga dara za pisanje i kojemu je literarni otac Pinocchijev povjerio ovu zadaću te potanko obrazložio kako roman treba napisati. Ugo Scotti-Berni zadržao je u bilješkama sve što mu je Collodi govorio i napisao je ovu knjigu iz poštovanja prema svom prijatelju koji ga je i potaknuo na taj posao. Naravno da je buduća Pinocchijeva zaručnica i sama trebala biti lutka - ali savršena, izgledom prelijepa, a u duši plemenita, kako bi se mladiću svidjela. Trebale su je stvoriti one iste ruke koje su svijetu podarile Pinocchija. Hoće li u tome uspjeti? I u kakva je i kolika iskušenja mlada djevojka dovela svojega tvorca i njegove prijatelje? Kakva se tek bura podigla kada je ženska lutka stvorena i kada se pokazalo da je drukčija od svih očekivanja? Jedno je stvoriti mušku lutku, ali - žensku?!
