Prisiljen da razmišljam, nova knjiga autorskog dvojca Perić i Pletenac koji je svoje teorijsko znanje već potvrdio dvama esejističkim uspješnicama (Ne možeš ti to i Priručnik za ekstremiste), zamišljena je kao niz psihoanalitičko teorijskih ogleda o po(i)etici hrvatske popularne glazbe. Naslov knjige referira se na pjesmu Heroj ulice Prljavog kazališta, a oslanja na uvjerenje autora da je u stihu Prisiljen da razmišljam / Ja shvatio sam sve sadržana sama srž hrvatske duhovnosti, koja u svom munjevitom uzletu nije zaobišla ni rock and roll. Riznica hrvatske popularne glazbe čuva brojne primjere onoga što Nijemci zovu „nedobrovoljnim humorom“, tako da će se multidisciplinarne analize velikim dijelom posvetiti upravo ovom segmentu tekstualnog stvaralaštva. Osim toga, jedna od dominantnih tema knjige je u globalnom kontekstu neuobičajena generacijska diskrepancija između hrvatske publike te glazbenika koje slušaju, kao i međugeneracijski otpori koji pripadnike određenih dobnih ili društvenih skupina nukaju na specifične glazbene preferencije - primjerice, današnja popularnost „cajki“ koja se može razumjeti kao dijalektički nastavak kontrakultura kao što je bio punk.
