About the Book

Vladimir Kirin rođen je 31. svibnja 1894. u Zagrebu. Srednju graditeljsku školu polazio je u Zagrebu, a Umjetničku akademiju u Beču (F. Schmutzer). Godine 1919. usavršavao je grafiku u Londonu. Godine 1923. publicirao je četri mape litografija povjesnih i arhitektonskih spomenika (Spit, Šibenik, Hvar i Trogir), te mapu Hrvatsko primorje. 1925. godine izradio je mapu grafika Stari Zagreb, bavio se ilustracijom i opremom knjiga, brojnih dječjih slikovnica i knjiga za mladež. Kao ravnatelj Zaklade tiskare Narodnih novina i grafički stručnjak izradio je nacrt novog, estetskog tipa slova i time unaprijedio grafičku opremu knjiga u Hrvatskoj. Imao je odličan smisao za likovno interpretiranje stare arhitekture, njegovo slikarsko umjeće krasilo je izvrsno smještanje arhitektonskih motiva i veduta u kadar, dobra komozicija te nadasve razvijen osjećaj za svjetlo i sjenu. Slikao je u tehnici ulja pejsaže iz okolice Samobora, vedute starog Zagreba, Pariza, dalmatinskih gradova i portrete. Vladimir Kirin umro je 5. listopada 1963. godine u Zagrebu.
