Svrha ovog dela je da postavi temelje koji će pomoći studentu, istraživaču, docentu ili profesoru u njihovom napornom zadatku da pravilno izraze cilj, materijal i metode, rezultate i zaključke svojih radova. Knjiga je skladno podeljena na delove koji obuhvataju ceo stvaralački proces, počev od strpljivog prikupljanja informacija, preko saveta kako izbeći gubljenje vremena ili prevazići blokadu „bele stranice“. Autorka ove knjige, korak po korak, ukazuje kako na psihološki, tako i na tehnički aspekt viševekovne tradicije pisanja. Uvođenjem sistema pitanja i odgovora, autor na jednostavan način nudi rešenja za neizbežne dileme koje prate mukotrpni i, čini se, nikad dovršeni proces stvaranja jedne knjige - kako se organizovati, prikupiti informacije, čitati na aktivan način i slično.
