Ili, možda, još uvijek ima što reći čovjeku današnjice, koji živi u svijetu revolucija, automatizacije, nuklearnog oružja, materijalističke filozofije, koja implicitno ili ek-splicitno odbacuje religiozne vrijednosti? Teško je vjerovati da bi u tom smislu hebrejska Biblija još mogla biti relevantna. Stari zavjet (uključujući i Apo-krife) predstavlja zbirku tekstova mnogih autora, napisanih kroz razdoblje dulje od jednog tisućljeća (od oko 1200. do 100. g. pr. n. e.). On sadrži zakonske propise, povijesne prikaze, pjesme, proročke govore, samo dio opsežne literature koju su Hebreji stvorili tokom tih jedanaest stoljeća. Te su knjige napisane u maloj zemlji na razmeđu Afrike i Azije, za ljude koji su živjeli u društvu, koje niti kulturno niti socijalno nema sličnosti s našim. Znamo, naravno, da je hebrejska Biblija jedno od glavnih nadahnuća ne samo judaizma već i kršćanstva i islama, te da je značajno utjecala na kulturni razvoj Europe, Amerike i Bliskog istoka......
