Knjiga predstavlja zbornik tekstova što ih je pisao ugledni arheolog Duje Rendić-Miočević o arheološkim nalazima u Dalmaciji koji potječu iz kasnoantičkih vremena iz Salone, Danila, Splita. U prvom dijelu knjige sabrani su tekstovi s podnaslovom "Arhitektura" u kojem se nalaze tekstovi o salonitanskim baptisterijama, krstionicama u ruralnim ambijentima, crkvama bez krova, Salonitanskim geminima, ranokršćanskim spomenicima u Poreču. Drugi dio knjige naslovljen "Novitates" sadrži tekstove o starokšćanskim nalazima iz Solina, solinskoj turnjačici i nalazima na nekropoli Manastirine u Saloni. U trećem dijelu knjige okupljeni su tekstovi o ranosrednjovjekovnoj onomastici, salonitanskim natpisima, grobljima, stelama, nadgrobnim natpisima parentinskog biskupa i "konfesora" Maura, epitafu kraljice Jelene i dr. Autor propituje spomeničko nasljeđe Salone, njene povijesno-urbanističke fenomene. Tu je i dosta manjih tekstova za razne prigode: apele, leksikografske jedinice i slično. Autor je svojim radovima nedvojbeno značajno utjecao na svoje studente i generacije arheologa koji su predstavljali odmak od nekih uvriježenih stavova i predrasuda.
