Povijest Galeba, bivšeg školskog broda JRM-a i „Titovog broda mira“, počela je još 1937. godine kad su u Italiji planirana četiri broda klase Ramb za dopremu banana iz talijanske kolonije Somalije. Tri broda blizanca nestala su u vihorima Drugoga svjetskog rata, dok je četvrti preživio službu kao pomoćna krstarica, torpediranje u Libiji, povratak bez pramca na Jadran, službu kao minopolagač Kiebitz u njemačkim rukama i potapanje u Rijeci potkraj 1944. godine. Podignut je, popravljen i preinačen te je kao Galeb, između ostaloga, služio bivšem jugoslavenskom predsjedniku kao brod za jadranska i prekomorska putovanja, što ga je učinilo jednim od najpoznatijih brodova svijeta. Već poznati mornarički autor Zvonimir Freivogel skupio je niz podataka, slika i fotografija iz dugačke povijesti Galeba i njegovih blizanaca, zajedno s tehničkim podatcima o brodu i njegovom naoružanju tijekom službe pod raznim zastavama te je složio mozaik o životu ovog gotovo neuništivog broda, na kojemu su također stvarane i učvršćivane veze između vođa Pokreta nesvrstanih.
