Izgubljeni Bog je izšel prvič leta 1900. V tistih časih je bilo širše družbeno okolje takratnega področja Slovenije polno ostrih političnih spopadov med klerikalci in liberalci. Jedke spore kulturnega boja podpihujeta obe strani, na konservativno-klerikalni strani je najostrejši ideolog Anton Mahnič, na liberalni strani pa je najvidnejši politik in literat Ivan Tavčar, ki je ta spor prenesel v literaturo. Gre za vrhunsko satiro podeželskega življenja, ki jo je avtor spisal pod psevdonimom dr. Ivan Nevesekdo. Dogajanje zgodbe je postavljeno med Moravče, galone vina in vse smrtne grehe.
