V slovenski literaturi verjetno ne obstaja bolj odkritega priznanja, ki obravnava šolski sistem, kot je roman Mojce Andrej Kavč učiteljice Veronike. In to priznanje gre takole: naravno zanimanje za učenje je podrejeno ciljem šole, katere poslanstvo je v osnovi disciplinske narave. Ne več tako mlada učiteljica Veronika, ki je v sistem vstopila z idealističnim dojemanjem lastnega poklica, razume, da se sistem obrača proti njej in nima prostora za odzivanje na spreminjajoče se potrebe razreda konkretnih učencev. Veronika je načeloma nadpovprečna učiteljica: namesto da bi pisala poročila o učencih, v katerih dejansko uživa, komentirala napredek učencev, staršem dajala vedeti, da pazi na njihove otroke, mora kljukati okvirčke na standardnem seznamu trditev. Resnični spor, do katerega pride, je, da sama avtoritete, recimo discipline kot orodja moralnega in duhovnega izboljšanja, nima, hkrati pa tudi ne verjame, da je represija lahko duhovna vrlina.
