Kršćani tako, kad je posrijedi islam, počesto ne znaju čega se boje, muslimani pak nerijetko izražavaju sumnje u kršćanske dobre namjere. Dok i jedni i drugi žive u društvima straha zbog nedopustive količine neznanja i odsutnosti komunikacije, muslimanski, kršćanski i laički ekstremisti enormno profitiraju, utvarajući si da su jedini zastupnici autentične (i po druge obavezujuće) istine. Knjiga dr. Stoddarta utoliko je višestruko korisna jer komparativno uzima u obzir primjere iz tradicionalnih izvora obiju religija, pritom imajući na umu da su moderni oblici religije - koji su trenutno posvuda dominantni - subjektivni, svojevoljni i promjenjivi te nedostatni u autoritetu i trajnosti koja je zaštitni znak svake istinske religije.
