About the Book

Leksikon stranih pisaca namijenjen je široj hrvatskoj kulturnoj javnosti, uključujući srednjoškolce, studente, profesore i ostale poznavatelje književnosti te korisnike leksikografskih priručnika. Obuhvaća znatan raspon biografskih, književnopovijesnih i bibliografskih podataka o stranim piscima, od književnih početaka do postmoderne, tj. do kraja 20 st. ukupno 2634 natuknice. Pri izradi koncepcije Leksikona uzeta su u obzir recentna svjetska leksikografska iskustva, no ona su prilagođena hrvatskoj leks ikografskoj tradiciji te trenutačnoj potrebi za takvim projektom. Načelo prema kojemu se sastavljao abecedar te donosili kvalifikativi u glavi natuknice određeno je na temelju triju važnih parametara: 1. jezika kojim se pisac služio, 2. piščeve pripadnos ti određenoj književnoj tradiciji, 3. autorove osobne opredijeljenosti. Uz tvorce beletrističkih djela (pjesnike, prozaiste, dramatičare) uvršteni su i važniji autori nekih književnih podvrsta ili znanstvenih područja (esejisti, putopisci, feljtonisti, memoaristi, mistici, filozofi). Uvršteni su i najugledniji tvorci komercijalnih, ali i književno vrijednih uspješnica iz znanstvenofantastičnoga, kriminalističkoga, dokumentarističkoga i sličnih žanrova. Brojna urednička ekipa te 140 provjerenih autora članaka zajamčili su jasan i siguran pogled na uzavrelu povorku pisaca, jezika i stilova koju nazivamo svjetskom književnošću.
