Prije nešto više od dvije godine, objavljeno je da je stari mehanički čovjek ukraden iz izloga trgovine Linnhoffer u centru Milwaukeeja. Nije pronađen do dana današnjeg. No primijećeno je da se neobični dogadaji na području Milwaukeeja dogadaju od ranog jutra 14. srpnja 2005. Te se priče gotovo uvijek mogu čuti iz druge ruke, ali slijede isti obrazac: kada se stambena zgrada zapali, školski autobus stane na tračnicama ili pješaka koji je izašao na noćnu šetnju napadnu lopovi, baš se tada niotkuda pojavljuje golema prilika koja pomaže nesretnim žrtvama. U trenucima zbunjenosti nakon incidenta, neki su ljudi izjavili da su čuli tiho mehaničko zujanje, zvuk nalik satnom mehanizmu. Neki čak tvrde da su vidjeli par sjajnih plavih očiju koje su odražavale mjesečinu, i lice koje nije posve ljudsko. Neodređeni opisi u njegovom društvu spominju i divljeg čovjeka, s velikim sjajnim očima nalik životinjskima i glasom nalik mrvljenju kostiju. No nema dokaza za te priče, jer tajanstvene prilike nestaju u noći, a svjedoci se pitaju jesu li ih doista vidjeli ili su oni tek neobična halucinacija.
