Četiri godine nakon velikog uspjeha ‘Kalendara Maja’ Zoran Ferić pojavljuje se s romanom koji ponajviše nastoji oko muško-ženskih relacija i peripetija. Ali za razliku od iscrpnog ‘Kalendara’, Ferić ovdje ne ispisuje kompletne živote svojih likova, nego ih hvata u ključnim epizodama u kojima se ti životi formiraju ili prelamaju. Slika je fragmentarna, ali roman cjelovit i zaokružen. Ferićev književni dom i ovaj je put otok Rab (ali autor svoje likove slijedi i u Makueniju, Battle Creeku, Krakovu, Grazu, Zagrebu, Rijeci...) na kojem pratimo živote nekoliko lokalnih ‘galebova’ i ‘malomišćanskih’ cura od adolescencije nabrijane hormonima do onih umornih i rezigniranih trenutaka kad već počinjemo sumirati svoje živote. Luka, Boris, Gavran, Škembo, Lena i Alka glavni su protagonisti, s tim da se u njihove živote upleću i brojne ‘strankinje’: Constanze, Gaby, Urlike, Dagmar, Marie... Ljubav, seks, mnoštvo smiješnih i prepoznatljivo ferićevskih grotesknih situacija, ali i tuga, melankolija i vječna borba sa životom koji nas uvijek nekako ‘zajebe’, a sve ispisano majstorskim rukopisom jednog od najuvjerljivijih glasova hrvatske književnosti.
