„U intelektualnom polju uvijek postoje iznimni pojedinci koje se zbog njihova velikog djela i utjecaja ideja kojima su ta djela posvećena s pravom označava kao grandiozne figure. To su oni veliki ljudi za koje je možda najjednostavnije reći da su originalni autori i mislioci. Jedan od njih svakako je Edgar Morin, čovjek uzbudljive biografije i autor neobično širokih misaonih horizonata. Knjiga O estetici, koju je Morin oblikovao kao svojevrsni sažetak prvotno zamišljenog, ali nenapisanog većeg djela, zanimljiva je i značajna iz nekoliko razloga. Ona pokazuje da Morinova sistemska ambicija, koja ga je vodila u pisanju Metode, nije iscrpljena knjigom Etika, odnosno razmatranjima etičke tematike. Estetsko se polje, prema Morinovu mišljenju, stalno širi i upravo bi to širenje trebalo shvatiti kao najbolji dokaz ljudske kreativnosti. Morin je intelektualac čije se mišljenje s pravom često traži, rado sluša i uvažava. Stoga bi, na način njegovih stilskih i dijalektičkih obrata, bilo možda primjereno reći da knjigu O estetici valja čitati u svjetlu sveukupnih Morinovih metodoloških postavki, kao što te metodološke postavke treba čitati u svjetlu ove nevelike, ali idejama bogate knjige.“ Rade Kalanj
