Jednako tako, i opravdana netolerancija, odnosno nepodnošenje mržnje i zavisti, nepoštenja i korupcije, zavaravanja drugih i sebe može spriječiti niz ostalih nepoželjnih oblika ponašanja. Stoga je nužno govoriti o granicama tolerancije i aktivnoj netoleranciji različitih oblika ponašanja koja štete drugima i nama samima i koja nam često umanjuju kvalitetu života. U svojoj najnovijoj knjizi O toleranciji ugledna hrvatska psihologinja Mirjana Krizmanić bavi se tolerancijom i netolerancijom te posljedičnom snošljivošću i uljuđenošću kao čimbenicima o kojima ovisi koliko će netko biti tolerantan ili ne. Kako se čini, često se precjenjuje vlastita i podcjenjuje tuđa tolerancija, što se u određenoj mjeri može ispraviti boljim upoznavanjem samoga sebe i drugih ljudi kao i poučavanjem djece i mladih. Na taj način stječe se kontrola nad vlastitim ponašanjem i stvaraju temelji za razvoj tolerancije. Jedan od ciljeva ove knjige jest potaknuti razmišljanje o vlastitoj snošljivosti te ponuditi načine za poticanje vlastitoga tolerantnoga ponašanja.
