Izvorni avanturistički roman iz života amerikanskih Hrvata od Dobroslava Jurjevskoga. Detektivski roman u stilu Conan Doyleovih i Wallaceovih djela. Radi se o izumu jednog hrvatskog inženjera iz Chila, dra. Mihokovića, koji može poletjeti, kao hydroavion, u zrak i tako izbjeći svim eventualnim progonima. Sa tog broda mogao je on nekim čudesnim zrakama upaliti arsenale u izvjesnim državama, koje se drže neprijateljski prema našem narodnom elementu. I upalio je. Kad je posvršavao svoje poslove, prodao je svoj brod Sjedinjenim državama u Americi, ali je tu sada nesretnog inženjera imala stići osveta jedne mafije, koja ga je podmuklim načinom uhvatila u svoje mreže i htjela poslati u Evropu, da plati glavom svoje patriotske podvige… S tim se momentom otpočinje roman. Prvi newyorški detektivi upinju sve svoje sile, da pronađu otetoga junaka, što im napokon i polazi za rukom. Apaški živt u podzemnim skrovištima velikoga New-Yorka, prihibicijski prekršaji, pustolovine naših i stranih iseljenika, najmoderniji policijski aparati, kojima se pronalaze zločinačka djela, sve je to opisano sa zamjernom vještinom i živahnošću, koja za-okuplja sav interes čitalaca.
