U središtu ove najnovije knjige autobiografskih zapisa Branka Polića nalaze se njegove pariške godine studija. One su uslijedile nakon nasilno prekinutog školovanja, internacije i spasa u partizanskim jedinicima, opisanih u prethodna dva sveska. Ovdje Polić pripovjeda do sada uglavnom nepoznatu priču o sudbini prve poratne grupe jugoslavenskih studenata u Parizu te o svom euforičnom susretu s velikim svijetom Sorbone, najpoznatijim svjetskih opernim i kazališnim kućama i koncertnim dvorana, o prijateljstvima s Francuzima i studentima iz cijelog svijeta koji su se nakon 2. svjetskog rata stekli u oslobođenom Parizu. S nekima od njih prijateljstava će ga vezati do današnjih dana. Istodobno, autor donosi i sliku mladih ljudi koji su te studijske godine provodili i između izazova slobode i političke kontrole koja se nad njima nastojala provoditi, o dvojbama ostati ili vratiti se. S ovom trećom knjigom Polićev autobiografsko-spisalački pothvat pretvorio se u veliku fresku vremena. Svojom akribičnošću, osobnim tonom i pogledom, otvorenošću i ironičnom distancom on je u hrvatskoj književnosti jedinstven.
