Svitalo je kada je devetnaestogodišnji Filip Isaković s palube bojnog broda JRM u jesen 1991. ugledao otok Lošinj kao posljednje priviđenje raja nakon čega će nastupiti mrak rata, a čitava zemlja nestati u krvi. Dva desetljeća kasnije, bivši ratni veteran i psihički slomljeni jazz kontrabasist, koji više ne može svirati, biva dopraćen u psihijatrijsku bolnicu u Kovinu gdje upoznaje one kojih se država odrekla nakon što ih je iskoristila za svoje ratove. To mjesto prezrenih postaje točka otpora i pobune potaknute antipsihijatrijskim idejama dr. Juliusa. Dok se u mozaičnoj strukturi romana nižu scene jazz koncerata u Splitu, Budimpešti, Beogradu – pripovijest vibrira u ritmu sinkopiranih Filipovih sjećanja na izgubljenu ljubav Enu. Čitatelj putuje kroz vrijeme i prostor Jugoslavije do samog srca romana: filozofije oslobođenja društva zarobljenog u raljama ratne prošlosti i spoznaje da sloboda ne dolazi kroz zaborav, a pojedinca ne možemo liječiti ukoliko ne liječimo društvo.
