Početak i razvoj fotografije u Hrvatskoj i Međimurju tema je kojom se u uvodnome dijelu knjige bavi samostalni istraživač povijesti fotografije Miljenko Smokvina. U svojem tekstu otkriva kako su fotografi u Čakovcu radili na samome početku 20. stoljeća što je potkrijepljeno fotografijama Siske Ignácza iz 1902. (djevojčica na prvoj pričesti) i 1905. (vjenčani par). Upravo zahvaljujući fotografiji tiskalo se mnoštvo razglednica s različitim motivima. Autor, prikazujući raskoš svoje privatne zbirke razglednica, predstavlja međimurski kraj u arhitektonskom, turističkom, kulturnom i društvenom smislu. U knjizi je vidljivo da se na razglednicama više pojavljuju mjesta uz rijeke Muru i Dravu, te ona kroz koje prolazi željeznička pruga. Tako je na naslovnici knjige razglednica Donjeg Kraljevca iz 1899. godine. U knjizi je također vidljivo da su Prelog i Mursko Središće vrlo važna naselja u nizini, baš kao Štrigova i Sveti Martin u bregovitom dijelu Međimurja - jedno zbog bogatog vinogorja, a drugo zbog poznatog narodnog kupališta i izvora termalne, ljekovite vode. Treba reći da je glavni motiv nekadašnjih razglednica bila župna crkva, odnosno toranj kao najviša točka naseljenih mjesta. Pospišil se u ovoj knjizi na lijep način bavi plemenitaškom obitelji Zrinski prikazujući, uz ostalo oproštaj Petra i Katarine uoči odlaska sa Franom Krstom Frankopanom u Bečko Novo Mjesto i smaknućem dvojice hrvatskih velikana kao epilog poznate Zrinsko-frankopanske urote.
