Roman Andreïa Makinea Prijatelj Armenac (2021) još je jedan prilog autorovoj cjeloživotnoj literarnoj apologiji snage ljudskog duha te humanosti i prijateljstva što čovjeka osposobljuju da prevlada sve nedaće koje pred njega stavljaju hladne i neumoljive sile povijesti i nemilosrdnost pojedinaca. Pripovjedač je trinaestogodišnjak koji živi u sirotištu u Sibiru u posljednjim godinama sovjetskog carstva. U školskom dvorištu brani slabašnog tinejdžera Vardana koji je izložen zlostavljanju vršnjaka. Taj ga novostečeni prijatelj uvodi u svoje okruženje, tzv. Vražji kraj, u malu zajednicu armenskih obitelji koja se doselila u to mjesto ne bi li bila blizu svojih voljenih koji su ondje zatvoreni pod optužbom da su osnovali tajnu organizaciju boraca za neovisnost Armenije. Glavni protagonista romana i sam biva uhićen kad ga zbog bezazlene igre kopanja tunela radi dječački naivne potrage za blagom režim osumnjiči za sudjelovanje u organizaciji pokušaja bijega političkih zatvorenika. U romanu upoznajemo niz živopisnih likova i doznajemo njihove, često tragične, životne priče, čime Makine iznova odaje poštovanje malom čovjeku zahvaćenom žrvnjem društveno-političkih mijena.
