About the Book

Ostavština Marija Saletta – velikog hrvatskog putnika, pustolova, istraživača, putopisaca, moreplovca, fotografa i snimatelja pohranjena je u Hrvatskom državnom arhivu u formi osobnog arhivskog fonda. U njemu se nalaze rukom pisani i bogato ilustrirani dnevnici s brojnih putovanja i ekspedicija diljem svijeta, a za potrebe ove edicije donosimo njegova prva dva dnevnika koji obuhvaćaju razdoblje od 1957. – 1959. Zbog praktičnih razloga objavljeni su u jednoj knjizi, formata istovjetnog izvornicima. O vrijednosti tih materijala, koji su svjedok jednog vremena, najbolje govore oni sami. Saletto je dnevnike pisao svojim osebujnim stilom, sam ih ilustriravši i obogativši fotografijama, razglednicama, ulaznicama i drugim popratnim materijalima s putovanja. Dijelove svojih kasnijih putovanja dokumentirao je u knjigama i TV serijalima od kojih je najpoznatiji Beskrajem svijeta, a ovaj dio ranih putovanja djelomično je objavljen u časopisu Hrvatskog planinarskog saveza Naše planine. Ova edicija stoga predstavlja dopunu njegovim već poznatim avanturama, tj. bolje reći – njihov početak.
