About the Book

Fra Ignacije (Mijo) Gavran rođen je 24.veljače 1914. god. u Varešu, gdje je završio i osnovnu školu (1921-1925). Završio je gimnaziju u Visokom (1925-1931, 1932-1934), novicijat na Gorici kod Livna (1931-1932), filozofsko-teološki studij u Sarajevu i Breslavi (1934-1939), filozofiju u Breslavi i Ljubljani (1937-1941), gdje je doktorirao 1941. Pohađao je Akademiju likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu (1943-1944). Za svećenika je zaređen 1938. Čitav svoj radni vijek proveo je kao profesor i odgojitelj. Bio je profesor u Visokom, docent na Teološkom fakultetu hrvatskih franjevaca u Sarajevu, profesor na Franjevačkoj teologiji, podprefekt i prefekt đaka, te direktor gimnazije u Visokom, meštar i podmeštar bogoslova. Godine 1976. biran je za provincijala ali se odrekao te službe. Zahvaljujući njemu knjižni fond visočke knjižnice porastao je od 15 na više od 50 tisuća jedinica. Univerzalno je naobražen i govori nekoliko svjetskih jezika. Spada u red izuzetno radinih i poletnih spisatelja i kulturnih djelatnika. Živi i radi u samostanu sv. Bonaventure u Visokom.
