Ideja ove knjige bila je istražiti demokraciju u doba tehno-kulture i simulacije zbilje. Riječ je o vremenu na prijelazu iz 20. u 21. stoljeće, vremenu definitivne pobjede tehno-logičkog uma i simulacije svega postojećega. Riječ je također o vremenu velike transformacije svijeta na prijelazu stoljeća i globalizaciji koja je uvelike promijenila konfiguraciju politike, političkoga i demokracije vezane u teritorijalnost nacije-države. Željelo se pokazati stanje demokracije u postmoderno doba, doba globalizacije i pobjede informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologija. U epistemologijskom smislu knjiga je svojevrstan hibrid sociologije znanja Bergera i Luckmanna i postmoderne teorije kulture jednoga Baudrillarda. U knjizi se polazi od teze o socijalnoj konstrukciji društvene zbilje, a teorija socijalne konstrukcije nadograđena je teorijom simulacije društvene zbilje u postmoderno doba i pobjede tehno-kulture i tehno-logičkog uma. Zahvaljujući tehnologiji i medijima sve je moguće simulirati, pa i demokraciju kao oblik vladavine. U središtu su analize u prva tri dijela knjige stoga semiotika demokracije, medija, propagande, slike i modela demokracije. U četvrtom dijelu analizira se ideja demokracije u okvirima političke filozofije Zapada s naglaskom na semiotiku različitih modela demokracije. Završni dio odnosi se na politologijsku analizu postdemokratskog stanja u Hrvatskoj, s tezom da u demokraciji postoje jake oligarhijske tendencije u političkim strankama i u hrvatskom društvu.
