About the Book

Svakodnevno svatko od nas doživljava refleksije vezane uz svijet koji nas okružuje. Te i takve refleksije dijelimo s kolegama i prijateljima, ili ih držimo za sebe. Pišući svoje kolumne za Večernji list, Neven Budak koristio je priliku da svoja razmišljanja podijeli sa širim čitateljstvom. Tekstovi prikupljeni u knjizi vremenski obuhvaćaju razdoblje od jeseni 2003. do kraja ljeta 2005. godine. Budući da započinju kratko prije parlamentarnih izbora, moglo bi se reći da "pokrivaju" prve dvije godine mandata vlade Ive Sanadera. Međutim, dnevnopolitička zbivanja samo su katkad polazište ovih Budakovih tekstova. Mnogo se češće autor osvrće na različite pojave iz društvena života, iz svijeta medija, civilnog društva, znanosti i obrazovanja. Vrlo često problematizira probleme na relaciji odnosa građanin-država, kritizira birokraciju, upozorava na probleme invalidnih osoba. Cijeli jedan segment čine tekstovi posvećeni pitanjima položaja znanosti i reformi sveučilišta u čemu je Neven Budak i osobno sudjelovao budući da je u razdoblju o kojem se radi obnašao dužnost dekana Filozofskog fakulteta u Zagrebu. Zbog čega nam takva promišljanja jednog intelektualca mogu biti zanimljiva i danas i sutra?
