Ne samo da je ta scena bila objavljena na naslovnici jednog engleskog dnevnog lista nego se zbog nje sovjetski tenkovi satima nisu usudili nastaviti proboj. Tri godine poslije, nakon odsluženja zatvorske kazne, nepoćudni Szabad vraća se svojoj obitelji. No, kad njegovoj supruzi na dan njegova povratka doslovno prepukne srce, odluči se sa sinom preseliti u Budimpeštu. Mladi András, koji je također dobio ime po pradjedu, opčinjen je fotografijom, a kad upozna glazbenicu Évu, i ne sanja u kojem će mu smjeru život krenuti. “Pišući, čovjek jednostavno iskoristi svoju slobodu, ili je se barem trudi pronaći”, smatra mađarski pisac Attila Bartis. Njegov drugi roman Svršetak, koji majstorski oslikava Mađarsku od šezdesetih godina naovamo, istodobno je životan i sjetan, katkad mračan, ali i pun nade. Sjajna književna camera obscura.
