Monografija prati znanstveni put talijanskog slavista i kroatista Artura Cronie, podrijetlom iz Zadra, autora koji je jasno pokazivao da je hrvatska kultura odraz talijanske kulture, te time manje vrijedna u odnosu na talijansku kulturu, ali i na druge kulture. Ako pisac nije naslijedovao talijanske uzore onda je on manje vrijedan i slab stvaralac, kao npr. Marin Držić. Naši književnici koji su svoja djela sami prevodili na talijanski uspjeli su na tom jeziku napisati bolja djela nego na svom materinjem. Njegovo djelo izazivalo je snažne kritike u Hrvatskoj i upravo je zbog toga pisati o tom čovjeku bez predrasuda pravi izazov. Autorica je uspjela stvoriti monografiju koje će pomoći mnogima da dobiju jasnu sliku o mnogim književnopovijesnim problemima i njihovom rješavanju u sukobima mišljenja hrvatskih i talijanskih proučavatelja naše baštine u 20. stoljeću.
