U tome mu pomaže galerija briljantno osmišljenih, urnebesnih antropomorfnih i zoomorfnih likova koji - često na hiperboličan, bajkama svojstven način - utjelovljuju različite funkcije iz javnog života. Osim samoga Teodozija, prijestolonasljednika za čiju se sigurnost brine opunomoćeni tutor Mačkopas Gavril, tu su i svojevrsni dvorjani Utvara Otilia, Sova Kaliopi i Minotaur Samoil kao i uzurpatori Soma Protektor i Otto iz Ottoburga, a nad svima bdije misteriozno božanstvo oscilirajućih moći: strašni zmaj Veliki Monstrumić. Rădulescuov prijemčiv stil i scenaristički vješto vođenje priče opčinjavaju već u prvim rečenicama, i ne napuštaju nas do samog kraja.
