Tomislav Torjanac jedan je od umjetnika mlađe generacije ilustratora, a u godini održavanja Prvog hrvatskog bijenala (2006.) nagrađen je na velikom međunarodnom natječaju za ilustriranje novog izdanja romana Yanna Martela Life of Pi (Pijev život). Po tim ilustracijama (njih četrdeset) postao je svjetski prepoznatljiv i tražen autor, a spomenuto ilustrirano izdanje u boji do danas je objavljeno u više zemalja (među kojima su mnoge s vrlo visokim zahtjevima u opremi knjiga, poput Velike Britanije, Južne Koreje, Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, Njemačke i drugih.) Britansko izdanje ilustriranog Pijeva života nagrađeno je prvom nagradom na “British Book Design and Production Awards 2008” u kategoriji “Limited Edition / Fine Binding”.
