Monografija ob 80-letnici prof. Rafka Valenčiča Rafko Valenčič (1937) je po študiju na Teološki fakulteti v Ljubljani in krajši kaplanski službi nadaljeval študij moralke na Akademiji Alfonziani v Rimu (1965-1968). Od leta 1968 je na Teološki fakulteti v Ljubljani predaval pastoralno teologijo. V času ponovne vključitve Teološke fakultete v ljubljansko univerzo je bil tudi njen dekan. Pred tem je bil študijski prefekt v bogoslovnem semenišču, od leta 1975 do 1993 je urejal pastoralno revijo Cerkev v sedanjem svetu, od leta 1980 bedi nad uredništvom Cerkvenih dokumentov in ureja revijo Oznanjevalec. Področja njegovega pedagoškega, znanstvenega in raziskovalnega so osnove pastoralne in moralne teologije, župnija in občestva, zakon in družina, kategorialna pastorala, domača verska zgodovina - večino od teh tem osvetljujejo tudi znanstveni prispevki v tem zborniku. Ob znanstvenem delu je aktivno deloval tudi na pastoralnem področju kot voditelj formacije duhovnikov, asistent študentskih in zakonskih občestev, dirigent pevskih zborov ...
