Shvaćanje i definiranje tradicijske kulture dugo je otvaralo stručne polemike, od razine tumačenja terminologije i pojmova, sve do razumijevanja raznolike materije koja se može svrstati pod pojmove i nazive baštine i tradicijske kulture. To je posljedično dovelo i do paušalnog medijskog izvještavanja u kojemu se nazivi baština, tradicija, tradicijska kultura i folklor upotrebljavaju kao istoznačnice, te ih se ne tumači niti kontekstualizira dovoljno jasno. Knjiga Iza i ispred pozornice odlučan je iskorak u razjašnjenju nedoumica u teoriji tradicijske kulture, kao i u njezinu komunikacijskom pokretanju. Autor ove knjige, Krešimir Dabo, svjestan paradoksalne društvene situacije u kojoj narodna umjetnost čini neodvojiv dio nacionalnog identiteta i može biti zanimljiv temelj za izgradnju državnog imidža umjetnosti, a u isto vrijeme nema adekvatnu medijsku popraćenost, postavio je pitanje može li se bolje i učinkovitije promovirati narodna baština i komunikacijskim kanalima upoznati hrvatska javnost s prebogatim nasljeđem kojim se bave mnogobrojna kulturno-umjetnička društva i baštinske ustanove. U knjizi Iza i ispred pozornice autor predstavlja ideje brendiranja nacionalnog identiteta temeljenog upravo na tradicijskom nasljeđu te ideje stvaranja i otvaranja prostora za poboljšanje strateške komunikacije ustanova i organizacija koje prikupljaju, čuvaju i predstavljaju izvedbenu tradicijsku umjetnost kroz uporabu društvenih mreža, novih tehnologija i novih pristupa izgradnji i zadržavanju publike.
