Mirjana Gross (1922-2012), povjesničarka, redovita profesorica Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Istraživala je hrvatsku povijest druge polovice XIX. i početka XX. stoljeća, kao i metodologiju historije, u čemu je pružila golem doprinos i ostavila trajan trag u hrvatskoj historiografiji. Mirjana Gross bila je dosljedna u zagovaranju metoda socijalne historije te inzistiranju na istraživanju društvenih struktura, u čemu je vidljiv utjecaj različitih faza škole Anala i totalne historije Fernanda Braudela; ti novi metodološki pristupi odrazili su se i u njezinim radovima o hrvatskoj povijesti 19. stoljeća. Poseban metodološki iskorak u tom je kontekstu predstavljao njezin rad na proučavanju nacionalno-integracijskih pokreta i ideologija, ponajprije djelovanja Stranke prava. […] Mirjana Gross hrvatsku je historiografiju obilježila ne samo kao znanstvenica i istraživačica, već i kao predavač/profesor. Predavala je generacijama studenata povijesti, od kojih su mnogi i sami kasnije postali ugledni povjesničari. Brojni su njezini nekadašnji studenti opisivali “peripatetičku školu”, šetnje Zagrebom i razgovore u njezinom domu.
