Jurčičevo pot odstira v desetih zaokroženih poglavjih z zanimivimi podrobnostmi od šolanja na Krki, Višnji Gori in Ljubljani pa vse do cesarskega Dunaja. Poseben poudarek daje njegovemu časnikarskemu delu pri Slovenskem narodu in leposlovnih listih. Odkriva nam tudi ljubezenski razmerji z Johano Ott in Maričko Schwentner. Seveda pa tudi njegove bogate stike s Franom Levstikom, Josipom Stritarjem, Franom Levcem, Josipom Vošnjakom, Ivanom Tavčarjem in Jankom Kersnikom. Predvsem pa se poglablja v nastajanje njegovih neminljivih del, kot so Deseti brat, Sosedov sin, Cvet in sad, Tugomer itn. Vsekakor gre za knjigo, kakršne doslej še ni bilo: v eni knjigi zveste več, kot je bilo doslej zapisanega v mnogih drugih virih.
